The Breif: Design a poster using multiple assets to create the layout. This is a very ‘topical’ topic, with many views. Your approach and who you are targeting is fundamental.
As you can see on the screen I've included the final piece along with a mind map showing different ideas about the brief. From the brief I decided to use typography and colour to emphasise the idea behind the poster, I wanted to focus on fossil fuels and pollution contributing to climate change. To do this I used the quote "Be part of the solution not part of the pollution". The two words that emphasize the quote are "solution" and "pollution", to make these stand out in the quote I used red in comparison to the rest of the piece that's black, grey, and white so it catches people's eye. I also positioned the words in a way that they looked like smoke coming from factories to further push the idea of climate change from fossil fuels and pollution.
The Breif: The aim of this project is to explore how typography can be used creatively to fulfil a brief over an extended period of time.
To complete the ISTD I used The LLine breif, in sumaary this is a to investigate a peice of typhography and tell a stroy of line in whatever way you wish.
I decided to creeate a peice of work based on a telephone line. I used black to create the shapes of the telephones, I chose to use black in order to make the brighter text in the middle stand out and have more effect. To create the main part of the peice, phone lines and lines of converstation, I reserched most common things said on the phone and peiced together a very common day to day conversation, I used the typography to show it starting happier and lighter with rounder more childlike text compared to thinner more structured text. I also used the colour to enhance the emotions, it staring a yellow colour wich signifies happiness then ends in a darker red colour to show the happiness at the start of the conversation has depleated and theres more of a mellow tone between the callers.
The Breif: create a type-based logotype design using one word from the list of climate based words.
For the word “melting” I designed it so it looked like the colour was melting out of the outlines of the font, and for the word "boundary" I created it so the typography was ridged similar to how tectonic boundaries are and then used a tectonic boundary map to fill the font in.
